The Woodbury Fire Department is a public service organization dedicated to the protection of life and property against the threat of fire and other disasters. We are located in the City of Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey.  Our county fire station number is 5-1.  We are responsible for responding Engines 511 and 512, Quint 516, and Utility 527.

The city firefighters protect 12,000+ city residents in a 2.4 square mile area.  Woodbury consists mainly of one and two family residential but also hosts a wide variety of mid rise residential and commercial structures. This includes light industrial occupancies and many government and judicial buildings as the County Seat. The city is also home to 5 schools, two (2) Conrail right of ways and rail yard, a branch off of the Delaware River (Woodbury Creek), and a hospital with the busiest emergency room in South Jersey. On average the department runs approx. 600 calls for service per year.

In addition to serving the residents of Woodbury City, the Woodbury Fire Department has entered many mutual aid agreements to provide and receive resources to and from surrounding towns in times of need.  Namely, the WFD participates in a multi-agency task force which has come to be known around the county as the "West Bury Park Taskforce." This taskforce is Station 5-1 (Woodbury FD), Station 7-3 (Westville FD), and Station 8-1 (National Park FD.)

The Woodbury Fire Department is a combination department, utilizing both volunteer and career firefighters to meet staffing requirements and to ensure around the clock coverage.  The Fire Department is currently under the direction of a Fire Administrator and Fire Chief.  Together with the Chiefs and Board of Fire Officers  oversee the daily management of the department.  The Board of Fire Officers are appointed by the Fire Administrator and Fire Chief in November of each year.  The volunteer staff is comprised of the Friendship Fire Company #1, established 1799.  The career membership is represented by the Firemen's Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) Local 62.
